Lymph nodes are small bean-shaped structures present in the lymphatic system. They filter lymph fluid and trap bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances. They contain white blood cells to fight off infections.
Sometimes, these lymph nodes become swollen, a condition called lymphadenopathy. This could occur due to infections, autoimmune diseases, or cancer. Usually, swollen lymph nodes are found in the neck, groin, and armpits. However, they can occur in any region where lymph nodes are present.
Muscle strain, on the other hand, occurs when muscle fibres are overstretched and torn due to repetitive movements. People with muscle strain often feel pain and swelling around the affected area.
Sometimes, people may experience pain in their neck or armpit due to a muscle strain while also noticing tenderness in nearby lymph nodes. This can lead to confusion regarding the cause of the swelling.

Infections
Viral infections such as cold or flu and bacterial infections like strep throat are the most common reasons for a swollen lymph node. When the body detects an infection, lymph nodes may swell to fight off infections and produce antibodies.Autoimmune diseases
Autoimmune diseases (like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis) can cause the immune system to attack healthy tissues. This, in turn, can lead to inflammation, which may cause the lymph nodes to swell.
Cancers
Rarely, swollen lymph nodes may indicate malignancies such as leukaemia or lymphoma. In these cases, nodes may feel tender and often accompanied by symptoms like fever and unexplained weight loss.
Can muscle strain cause swollen lymph nodes?
When you strain a muscle, your body sends extra fluid to the injured area to support healing. This fluid carries nutrients and immune cells to repair the tissue. The lymphatic system usually drains this excess fluid, but if it’s compromised or affected by the injury, it may struggle to manage it. If the lymphatic system can’t properly filter the fluid, it builds up in the tissues, causing swelling, a sign of lymphedema.
ANF Therapy®️ for Muscle Strains:
Amino Neuro Frequency (ANF) Therapy®️ offers an innovative approach to addressing muscle strains. This non-invasive therapy utilises ANF Devices, small wearable devices that emit neuro frequencies, aiming to optimise the body’s natural healing processes and reduce inflammation. When applied to the affected area, these devices enhance cellular communication and increase circulation, helping alleviate pain and promote faster recovery. ANF Therapy®️ can be particularly effective for those experiencing the sharp, persisting pain that often accompanies muscle strains from repetitive coughing. It provides a drug and chemical-free holistic approach to pain relief and recovery.
